With a wet and cold spring, we were all wondering how the hay crop was going to be. First crop is a little late this year, but things dried up nicely and we've had a spell of warm and dry weather.
This is nice stuff. All grass, and very soft.
Good for keeping those tummies warm thru Wisconsin's 11 months of winter.The loft was getting a little low. Time to fill it back up again. With 1500 square feet of hay loft, we can store a lot of hay.

That looks like work, which is a four letter word.
I'm kinda partial to the large round or rectangular bales that have to be handled by equipment. Hydraulics are our friend, I always say.
Yes, yes they are. However, you'll never get the same quality in a round as you do in a small square. The work involved is minimal, albeit tedious. Lift, carry, drop. And some sweat. But the reward far outweighs the chore.
We're doing the same thing in Nova Scotia. Its been way to wet and cold untill this week to bale anything but haylage. Looks like good hay, but sorry I cant help :)
